Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition 2018-2019

Our English Debate Team members (4A Grace Wong, 4A Gabbie Chan and 4A Sarah Ching) has won in Round 2 of the Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition 2018-2019 (Term 2, Division 1, EMI Schools) against Fukien Secondary School on the motion about extension of human lifespan. Congratulations to the three debaters and we wish them best of luck in the final round of the competition.


Student Winning the First Runner-up in a Creative Writing Competition

S5A WU Ying-chit won the first runner-up in a creative writing competition “陳贊一博士聯校微型小說創作比賽”. She read her work at the prize-giving ceremony and shared her experience in creative writing. Her work will also be complied into a book.


Online Conference with Kyoto Prefectural Yamashiro Senior High School

As a highlight of the Academic Week(14/5 – 17/5), a group of S4 students had a chance to attend an online conference with students from Kyoto Prefectural Yamashiro Senior High School. KTL students and their Kyoto counterparts introduced some traditions of their respective home town. Towards the end some of our students even chatted with their new Japanese friends in fluent Japanese.

Academy for Fledgling Talents: Closing Ceremony cum Parents Seminar of Gifted Education

This year Learning and Teaching Committee set up Academy for Fledgling Talents, where a series of workshops were conducted throughout the year, targeting gifted P5 and P6 students from schools across the territory. World Telecommunications Information Society Day 2019 Geocaching Competition

S4 ICT girls joined the World Telecommunications Information Society Day 2019 Geocaching Competition organized by CAHK on 11 May, 2019. Students are required to combine the skills of using mobile devices to search for routes, getting accurate GPS locations, searching for correct answers and most importantly to exercise their team work. Congratulations to our students! They beat 47 teams and won the champion of this event.

70th Anniversary Service cum S1 Form Council Inauguration Ceremony & Anniversary Banquet

Our 70th Anniversary Service cum S1 Form Council Inauguaration Ceremony in the afternoon on 4th May, 2019 were great successes. We were privileged to have Mr. Kevin YEUNG Yun-hung, JP, Secretary for Education, as our guest of honour. After the ceremony, all the S1 students proudly presented an English musical called ‘A Mid-summer Night’s Dream’ for the inauguaration of their form council, which is a tradition of True Light. A Visit to the HKUST (Department of Chemistry)

To raise students’ interest in learning Chemistry and to provide them with opportunities to learn more about advanced analytical Chemistry equipment, S3 and S4 students paid a visit to the Department of Chemistry in HKUST and had a campus tour accompanied by their Chemistry teacher. After the activity, the students were amazed by the rich itinerary and the new knowledge they learnt.

Greater Bay Area Study Tour

On 12-13/4, the Liberal Studies Department and the Geography Department jointly organised a Greater Bay Area Study Tour. 30 S5 students visited Nansha, Guangzhou. Through comparing small factories and foreign-funded enterprises, as well as small farms and modern agricultural production, students were able to experience the knowledge they learnt in the lessons on their own.

Cheung Chau Food Globalisation Field Trip

On 12 March this year, students from the Liberal Studies Elite Training Programme (Junior Secondary) joined a field trip to Cheung Chau held by the Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre to study on food globalisation. Students had lessons on concepts of globalisation at the centre first. Walking on different routes on the island, students learnt to evaluate and record the influence of globalisation on restaurants and snack shops systematically. “Running Youth X Kowloon City Got Talent” Orienteering competition

8 F2 students recommended by the Liberal Studies Department participated in the “Running Youth X Kowloon City Got Talent” Orienteering competition jointly held by the Kowloon City District Office, Kowloon City District Youth Programme Committee and HKFYG Jockey Club Farm Road Youth S.P.O.T. on 10 Mar this year. Students actively searched for 15 checkpoints within 3 hours. The fun and challenging experience allowed them to understand the community more.
