Chinese Department’s new activity updates and award news (early July 2017)

Our Chinese Department was honoured to have a professional sharing with Gertrude Simon Lutheran Evening College in early July in terms of e-learning curriculum planning, teaching strategies and assignment development. We both learn a lot from each other.

Another piece of good news is our students, Sakura Yip, Stella Au and Claudia Lau from 4A, got the 2016-2017 Chinese Students’ Writing Competition “HengYuanXiang Literary Star” in Hong Kong Region. Congratulations!

Extended Learning Activities in English (29-30/06/2017)

English Debate Team Clinched the Championship in HKSSDC (Kowloon District, Div. 1) (01/06/2017)

Yesterday was a huge day, blessed by our Lord, during which our English Debate Team (S.4 Team 1—Audrey, Jade and Kris from 4A) won in the Hong Kong Secondary School Debating Competition (Regional Final, Kowloon District, Division 1). The Last English Speaking Day and Reading Buddies Visit of This School Year (26/05/2017)

To foster our students’ English proficiency, we have been organizing English Speaking Days (ESDs) every Wednesday throughout the year. In the second term, we collaborated with other EMI subjects including Integrated Science, History, Home Economics and Geography by integrating the subject vocabulary items into our ESD materials. A friendly visit and tutelage from Dr Edward Wickham (16/05/2017)

On May 16th, we were honoured to have invited Dr Edward Wickham, Director of Music at St Catherine’s College, Cambridge, to revisit us, especially our choir members and the actresses who performed in the Musical in the U.K. last summer. Having previously taken part in a choral exchange with Dr Wickham’s Girls Choir in Cambridge, Dr Wickham once again came to our school to teach our School Choir knowledge and techniques in enhancing their singing. “ACEA HK Primary & Secondary School English Writing Competition 2016-2017” (09/05/2017)

We are proud to have won two awards in the “Asia Children Education Association – Hong Kong Primary and Secondary School English Writing Competition 2016-2017″. Out of 6000 entries (students) from 155 schools, Lam Hei Yiu, Hilary and Lee Man Tung, Ella from 4A receive the awards of “Most Popular Article (Silver)” and “Most Creative Writer (Merit)” respectively.

Mock Trial – Justice Education Project (Champion) (02/05/2017)

Our school joined the 2016-2017 Mock Trial – Justice Education Project, jointly organized by The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Commission on Youth of the Home Affairs Bureau, MaMa Charitable Foundation, The Law Society of Hong Kong and Narcotics Division and Action Committee Against Narcotics. We hope that students could understand the capabilities and limitations of the law on the protection of our rights and fulfillment of social duties during the activity.
