As part of the writing programme of our values education project, a group of five S2 – S5 student participants interviewed Dennis Wong Shing Wing, Professor of Criminology & Social Work at the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the City University of Hong Kong on 24 November 2022. Against the backdrop of shelves teeming with books, souvenirs of overseas trips, and an amazing collection of comic superhero figurines and posters, Prof. Wong recounted the riveting story of how he became a criminologist. With an extensive catalog of real cases across the world right at his fingertips, the social-worker-turned-criminologist expounded his views on crimes and criminal justice systems, both at home and abroad. This has been an inspiring and thought-provoking masterclass for our student participants, who got a close-up look of Prof. Wong’s brilliant personal and intellectual lives.
