A Warm Welcome to Dr Sze Chun-fai, Jeff, JP in our Anti-Japanese War AI Interactive Classroom
The Under Secretary for Education, Dr SZE Chun-fai, Jeff, JP, visited the school on 4 September to observe how artificial intelligence (AI) technology is utilised to promote the teaching of wartime history. During the visit, the head of the school’s Chinese History Department, Ms. Lau Man-wai, guided senior secondary students in an interactive session using the “Dialogue with Anti-Japanese War Veterans AI” supported by the Education Bureau. This allowed the students to engage in conversations with three virtual wartime veterans Chan Bing-ching, Lam Chun, and Wong Kwong-han. In class, students also read wartime letters written by Xie Jinyuan and Zhao Yiman, and then wrote their own letters to war veterans, expressing gratitude to the fallen heroes.
Following the session, Dr. Sze shared his thoughts on digital education and the importance of learning history with the students. He praised the school’s efforts to integrate AI into teaching and learning, complemented by educational activities that emphasise humanistic values. By arranging close “dialogues” with wartime heroes, the initiative helps bridge the gap between students and history, offering a unique historical learning experience. This “AI Interactive Wartime History Class” has been covered by various media outlets.
