On 29 June, the Chinese Language Department held the “Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Discovery Day”, offering S1 students a rich and diverse learning experience. On the day, students enjoyed a professional Cantonese opera performance presented by the Jockey Club “10 Living ICH Treasures” Mobile Classrooms, experiencing the charm of this traditional performing art up close. They then visited an ICH exhibition and deepened their understanding of its cultural significance through observation and note-taking. The hands-on workshops that followed enabled students to try Chinese painting, traditional flower-board crafting, and making traditional dim sum, putting what they learned into practice and appreciating the craftsmanship and spirit of heritage transmission. The event aimed to encourage students to step beyond textbooks and learn about ICH through “seeing, listening, and doing”, enhancing cultural literacy and interest in learning.
