InnoPower@JC: KTLS ‘Sparkle in Service Learning’ Project
With the support from the Jockey Club, InnoPower@JC: KTLS ‘Sparkle in Service Learning’ Project, co-organised by SAC and NSCC, has been launched this year. It aims to enhance students’ capacity to become self-directed learners through community service, to foster their growth mindset and to develop their multiple intelligences so as to encourage them to participate and make contribution to society.
In March, the theme was to explore students’ potentials and to achieve their personal growth. A group of S4 students joined the programme and they were actively engaged in a team-building programme on 6 March, including water balloon game, treasure hunt and problem-solving activities on campus. It helped students identify their character strengths and weaknesses, develop their leadership skills, boost their mutual trust and build team unity. On 13 March, a training workshop on self-directed learning and positive education was held to equip students to be self-directed learners. Through a balloon skewer experiment, students gradually developed resilience with the ability to meet and overcome challenges. By utilizing goal setting and reflection strategies, students were ready to learn and experience as a team for the upcoming service project.
