Teachers’ Day
Teachers’ Day is annually celebrated on 10 September. In line with the “Courtesy and Manners in True Light” programme, we organised a series of activities to foster a culture of respect for teachers this year. At the start of the school year, students wrote thank you cards to express their heartfelt gratitude to our teachers, and on Teachers’ Day, student representatives shared some with us all during morning assembly. Chinese culture has a fine tradition of respect for teachers, and moral virtues are deeply embedded in the Chinese classics. We set up display boards not only to exhibit thank you cards, but also introduce students to the traditional Chinese rituals and cultural practices of respecting teachers. Students visited the exhibition to learn from the exemplary ancient sages so that the true meaning of respecting teachers and valuing their teachings would be passed on.
