TED Style Public Speaking Workshop-cum-competition
On 15 October, over 150 primary 5 and 6 students participated in our TED style public speaking workshop-cum-competition, an annual speaking extravaganza organized by our school’s English Department. The event has been a tremendous success as participants were finally able to participate in the event face-to-face after a turbulent pandemic year. It was an honor to have Dr. Peter Youngblood, a highly experienced public speaking trainer and lecturer from Hong Kong Baptist University as our guest speaker and coach in the company of our student helpers and debate team members. During the event, not only did the participants learn the essentials of public speaking, such as eye contact, voice, body language and content, but they also successfully adopted the narrative public speaking style in crafting their own speeches. We believe that the primary school participants have taken home invaluable experiences and constructive feedback from the guest speakers and our debate team members.
