Chinese New Year Carnival and Light Up Little Minds Children’s Storytelling Contest
On 4 February, our school hosted the Chinese New Year Carnival and Light Up Little Minds Children’s Storytelling Contest. The event was well attended by a diverse group of participants, including teachers, students, parents, alumni, and friends from near and far. Our guests were treated to an array of festive activities, including games, handicraft booths, sales booths, and a captivating lion dance performance, which provided a unique opportunity to immerse in traditional Chinese culture. The True Light Zheng Troupe added to the festive atmosphere with a delightful performance of Chinese New Year music.
In celebration of the school’s 150th anniversary, the Light Up Little Minds Children’s Storytelling Competition reached its final round on the same day. Our school released a series of books on character education for young children and organized the storytelling competition in Hong Kong. Approximately 180 kindergarten and primary school students participated in the contest, with 34 contestants selected as finalists. The competition was judged by an esteemed panel of experts, including Ms. Sun Wai Ling, a Children’s Literature Specialist, Ms. Angela Chow, a Senior Curriculum Development Officer from the Education Bureau, and Mr. Till Kraemer from Hutchison. The participants displayed their storytelling skills and delivered their best performances, making the competition not only a showcase of their talents but also a valuable learning experience for them.
