The Reading Promotion Committee had organised two lunchtime reading workshops this April
To celebrate World Book Day, our NET teacher, Mr. Gavin Jones, introduced to participants Alan Bradley’s internationally best-selling Flavia de Luce series, which features a teenage amateur detective and aspiring chemist with a passion for poison—as she solves the mysteries of her small English village.
This was closely followed by Ms. Ho Ka Wai’s “Reading Xi Xi Workshop”, in which Ms. Ho, an expert in Chinese literature, guided students through some of the most iconic works of the beloved local writer, who passed away last December. Apart from learning how to appreciate the incisiveness and creativity of Xi Xi’s unique language, our young readers also learnt from Xi Xi’s character and attitude — that we should be sincere, kind, and resilient, and always stay curious in life and stay young at heart.
