Reading Festival 2022-23: “Your Life, Your Story”
The Reading Festival, with the theme of “Your Life, Your Story”, was successfully held by the Reading Promotion Committee between 16th and 18th May. An array of activities were organised during the festival, ranging from teachers’ sharing session and storytelling workshop to game booths and pop-up library. Notably, we were honoured and overjoyed to have Mr. Vivek Mahbubani to be our guest speaker at our Reading Assembly, during which the much loved stand-up comedian made us laugh so hard that our stomachs hurt. Most importantly, by telling his life stories, Vivek demonstrated how reading had enriched his world and opened his mind, enabling him to “see a story behind everything”. We were very grateful that Vivek also conducted a storytelling workshop for our students, inspiring them to be observant in order to notice the interesting and the extraordinary amidst the cotton wool of daily life, which could be deceptively mundane. And of course, he inspired students to live life with a sense of humour. Through this festival, we hope students will be more able to appreciate the importance of having a good reading habit, the art of storytelling, and the power of creating and telling their own story.
