National History Mystery Solving Competition and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition
On 23 November, the “National History Mystery Solving Competition and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition,” jointly organized by the Hong Kong Subsidized Secondary Schools Council and the Kowloon City District Office, was held at True Light Middle School of Hong Kong. The teachers and students of our school’s Chinese History department took on the task of designing the historical escape room game, meticulously recreating scenes from significant events such as the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Long March at Qiajin Mountain, the Xi’an Incident, and the founding ceremony in 1949, allowing participants to feel as if they were traversing time and space, embodying the new youth of the nation-building era, and exploring the history of nation-building from 1921 to 1949 in the form of a “puzzle-solving game.”
In addition to the thrilling and exciting escape room game, the event featured various activities such as workshops, booth games, and cultural performances, showcasing numerous treasures listed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, including Cantonese opera, traditional Chinese medicine, Tai Chi, Yun brocade weaving, and Cloisonné craftsmanship. Many students served as event staff, and through their participation, they not only enhanced their communication, planning, and problem-solving skills but also sparked an interest in Chinese culture, appreciating the importance of inheriting and promoting the treasures of Chinese culture.
