English Week 2026: From Setbacks to Comebacks
This year, English Week 2026 unfolded with the inspiring theme, “From Setbacks to Comebacks,” engaging students in a transformative journey of resilience and growth.
Throughout the week, students participated in engaging lunchtime activities at various English game booths. They read stories of success from failure, explored resilience-related idioms, and recited motivational quotes. A creative challenge involved building the tallest stable stack of stones, symbolising the journey of overcoming obstacles. These activities emphasised how determination and teamwork can transform setbacks into comebacks.
In one morning assembly, our NET teacher, Mr. Jones, discussed the specific challenges of learning English and how overcoming these can lead to personal growth.
During the morning reading session, the book “Failosophy: A Handbook For When Things Go Wrong” was introduced, where students discovered that failure can be a stepping stone to growth and success.
The highlight of the week was a special school assembly featuring renowned stand-up comedian Mr. Vivek Mahbubani. He shared his personal journey of turning failures into opportunities, inspiring students with his story of success. Many students expressed feeling motivated and more confident in facing future challenges.
It is hoped that the activities organised during English Week 2026 will inspire students to embrace challenges with confidence and resilience, turning every setback into a stepping stone for a stronger comeback.
