FMCHK “Smart Care” Dementia Friendly Community Project Sharing Session & Community Thanksgiving Festival
Our school has long collaborated with the Free Methodist Church of Hong Kong (FMCHK) on “Smart Care” Dementia Friendly Community Project, dedicated to supporting elderly individuals with dementia. Over the past three years, our students have organised and led a diverse array of activities, including inter-school workshops (such as velvet flower crafting), Virtual Reality (VR) immersive experiences for seniors, guided tours of Central, and participating in the “Knitting Women” volunteer service, earning well-deserved recognition from the organisation.
The project aims to raise public awareness, empathy, and inclusivity toward dementia. At the project’s recent Sharing Session and Community Thanksgiving Festival, our students served as student representatives during the kickoff ceremony. They engaged with senior citizens through technology, guiding them through VR activities in a mutually rewarding experience that broadened their horizons and deepened their sense of civic responsibility.
