Guangzhou Sister School Exchange and Greater Bay Area Development Opportunities Expo
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Kowloon True Light School, the principals, teachers, and students from our school’s kindergarten, primary, and secondary sections embarked on a visit to Nansha, Guangzhou from 3 to 4 November. Our sister schools, Guangzhou True Light Middle School and Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha), also joined us for the “Guangzhou Sister School Exchange and Greater Bay Area Development Opportunities Expo”.
The expo commenced with a video message from Mr. Jeff SZE Chun-fai, JP, Under Secretary for Education. Mr. Sze recognized that the event, which integrated career development in the Greater Bay Area into the career planning of secondary school students, offered valuable opportunities. It allowed students to acquire insights into national development, pursue their aspirations, and establish meaningful goals. Additionally, the event has fostered diverse modes of exchange for sister school programs, which holds great significance in promoting collaboration and mutual learning among schools. The day began with an introduction to the university’s overview by Mr. Lionel NI Ming-shuan, Founding President of HKUST (Guangzhou). Professionals from various industries then shared their experiences in corporate development and entrepreneurship. Notable representatives from leading companies such as CloudWalk Technology, Guangzhou Zhongke Aerospace Exploration Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Chali Group Co., Ltd., and Bank of East Asia (China) Limited were among the speakers. Additionally, Kowloon True Light School, having witnessed numerous successful alumni over the years, welcomed alumni WONG Ying-ying, Executive Director of Man Wah Holdings Limited, and Mani FOK Man-hei, CEO of Emperor Group (Beijing) Cultural Development Co., Ltd., as guest speakers, who provided invaluable inspiration to their younger schoolmates.
Following the informative lectures, students embarked on visits to various locations, including Pony.ai, Mingzhu Agricultural Park, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Headquarters Exchange Base, Guangzhou Fourth Resource Thermal Power Plant, and Nansha Library. Meanwhile, teachers engaged in professional conferences at Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha). Both teachers and students gained valuable experiences and expanded their horizons throughout the trip.
