English Week
In March, the English Department organized an English Week dedicated to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the aim of inspiring students to contribute to the world’s sustainable development. Students engaged in activities such as a simulation game on responsible consumption, where they experienced the challenges faced by sweatshop workers. They also participated in an upcycling workshop called “From Bags to Blooms,” learning to transform plastic bags into eco-friendly flowers. The Swap Shop initiative encouraged responsible consumption by allowing students to exchange unwanted items, promoting sharing and reducing waste. Additionally, Jey from Inter Cultural Education (ICE) shared real-life examples of youth and female-led startups in Asia Pacific, inspiring students with stories of social innovation and entrepreneurship for sustainable development. The English Week has planted the seeds of transformation, and has empowered students to embrace responsible consumption, climate action, and gender equality in their everyday lives. It is hoped that they will continue to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
